Last week, Jordan, Blake and I and escaped mid week to check out the newest glamping experience in central Indiana at Getaway in Brown County. Peak fall foliage is always my favorite time to visit Brown County, but you can really not go wrong at any time of year here. These tiny cabins had it all and located a short drive from Nashville, IN where you can find numerous other hiking trails, great food (my favorite: Big Woods) and plenty of outdoor shopping.
A Hidden Gem in the Woods
We arrived to our escape for the night, a charming one-room cabin that effortlessly blended modern comforts with the rustic ambiance of the woods. What lured me to book was the cabin’s massive picture window, offering an unobstructed view of the star-studded night sky.
Cozy Comforts and Nature’s Embrace
Despite being enveloped by nature, the cabin boasted all the essential amenities for a comfortable stay. From a well-equipped kitchenette with a stove top and basic cooking tools to a mini fridge and indoor plumbing, every need was thoughtfully catered to.
Nature’s Playground at Your Doorstep
The seclusion of the cabin made it feel as if my family and I were the only souls in the woods, yet you can still see other cabins across the way. All hours are quiet hours here, so peace and tranquility were easy to achieve.
The 1.2-mile walking trail was a nice morning adventure and not so rigorous that our four year old couldn’t keep up (for the most part).
Evening Delights: Fire Pit, S’mores, and Stargazing
The cabin came equipped with a pair of smores kits, complete with log bundles and fire starters, ensuring our cozy campfire moments were effortless in the event we came unprepared. All provisions can be purchased on site by simply using the goods and the cost will be added to your bill after check out. This really simplified our evening, not having to shop at a camp store for the items we left behind.
I actually witnessed a shooting star from the massive picture window, still waiting for my wish to come true! I enjoyed stargazing just as much as watching the squirrels play in the morning. I imagine waking up to falling snow would be just as magical here!
Wi-fi is not available here, but a box to store your phone in order to completely unplug is. I also found card games and books. It was a rare opportunity to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with ourselves and nature.
